Staff Member Profile: Derek Leininger

Derek Leininger returns to work on IndianaRunner.com after 2 1/2 years away. Leininger created IR in June 2000 and worked as the webmaster for 5 1/2 years, up until IR merged with HoosierAuthority.com.

Leininger was an 8-time varsity letter winner in cross country and track at Columbia City. His senior year he placed 9th in the IHSAA State Meet in the 800 meter run. He holds the CCHS school record in the 800 and he also anchored the school record 4x800 relay team and ran in the 2002 state meet in the 4x400 relay.

While in college, Leininger quickly got in to coaching. He coached at East Noble and Concordia Lutheran prior to becoming the head coach at Snider High School. Leininger is currently the Head Coach for both the boys and girls cross country programs at Snider HS. His "real job" is teaching 8th grade U.S. History at Northwood Middle School in Fort Wayne.
